“Why do we Fall?

So we can learn to pick ourselves back up.”

I am a big fan of the Star Wars Original Trilogy and my mango sister likes the original trilogy too. Despite the unnecessary comedy parts, bad acting, cringe scenes (and the Jar Jar Binks), we liked some parts of the Prequels too. The 7th movie was fine with some good characters, high-quality special effects, and enjoyable action scenes. The 8th movie was okayish But to be honest, the last movie was terrible. I am sure they worked hard to produce the movie, but it was really bad. Despite all, there is a reason we put one of the best quotes of movie history to the top of our post. I think Star Wars fell with the last movies, but they showed that they still can do movies and series like the original movies with the new series "The Mandalorian". Star Wars learned from their mistakes or as Yoda says: "The greatest teacher failure is." Here is the new hope of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Filming Techniques

Although it isn't the main reason I loved the series, I think the techniques used in the series make it better. The first technique I liked is not using a green screen. Many movies are filmed using a green screen today, but Yoda has something to say: "There is another: LED Walls." So, The Mandalorian crew listened to Yoda and used LED walls which means basically creating a movie set covered by LEDs that show the setting of the scene. For instance, if our characters are going to Tatooine, LEDs show the Tatooine environment while the actors are playing in the circular set created by LEDs. In the photo below, you can see the LEDs showing the Tatooine skyline. NOTE: Although the LED technology is used professionally, there are scenes where CGI is used which look fake like the Luke Skywalker cameo.

There are many techniques used in "The Mandalorian", but our last and second example is the original trilogy vibes in the movie. Jon Favreau, who is the creator of the series, tried to give the same emotions that the audience felt while watching the original trilogy. This is why they used similar cameras, costumes, and shots. And I can easily say that I got the same feeling, especially at the Tatooine and spaceship scenes.

And of course, there is Baby Yoda who made the show more wondrous. Not only because he is super cute, but also he looks very realistic. The crew used an expensive robot for Baby Yoda instead of creating him with CGI.

The Star Wars We Needed

I am a big fan of the Star Wars original trilogy because it has a deeper story than just some good guy vs bad guy story with space theme. It has deeper messages to give like the return to self, love, and inner conflicts. These deeper themes of Star Wars slowly disappeared as the new movies were released. However, Mandalorian restored the deeper meaning of Star Wars with original character stories and a storyline with high-quality topics. Although the series include many deeper meanings, I mostly liked the story of the Mandalorian and his relationship with Baby Yoda, as the Mandalorian reflects his feelings about his relation with Baby Yoda. Also, I liked the fact that our main character wasn't actually born as a Mandalorian. The chaos after the fall of the Empire was a good point too that was included in the series.

I really liked "The Mandalorian" as I got the same vibes with the original trilogy although the series wasn't like a copy of the original movies. It was nicely filmed, the acting was really good and its storyline was amazing. And when Baby Yoda also entered the series, it was near to perfect. If it doesn't become a copy of the original trilogy in the third season and if it doesn't lose its originality, I think it can stay as one of the most successful Star Wars productions.
